Using the mix is easy! Start with removing as much of the old soil as possible. Gently squeeze the pot while holding it sideways to loosen up the plant. Run the roots under lukewarm tap water to remove the last pieces and bits.
Also, make sure to remove any dead foliage that may still be on the plant using scissors. Now your plant is ready for its fresh Alocasia soil. Add a small layer of Alocasia mix at the bottom of the pot.
Place the plant in the pot, and slowly add Alocasia soil to the sides to fill it up. Make sure that the point where the roots meet the plant is just buried under the Alocasia soil.
Lightly pat the Alocasia mix down into the pot. Make sure to water the Alocasia mix thoroughly after repotting, as this helps settle the mix and roots down.
The alocasia mix has vermiculite instead of the more common perlite. This causes the soil to stay wet for longer. Vermiculite holds moisture very well and releases it back into the soil slowly. This makes it easier to keep your alocasia evenly moist and reduces the time you have to water, leaving you with more time to admire your plant!
Most of Alocasia originates from the southeast of Asia. They are found on forest floors of subtropical and tropical areas. They love high humidity, heat and constantly moist soil that doesn’t dry out. This isn’t to say that they don’t need drainage, their roots still need to breathe well. This alocasia mix mimics that habitat.
Tip! As Alocasia likes to stay moist, use a plastic or ceramic pot. Clay and other types of pots are porous, meaning they breathe out moisture. Plastic and ceramic contain moisture better.
Alocasia prefers wet soil, they are part of the aroid family but require a bit more humidity and moisture than aroids like photos, philodendrons and monstera. They prefer bright indirect light, but can’t stand direct sunlight. The main issue with alocasia care is inconsistency in the environment, once they are doing well, try not to change their care around too much.
Unlike most aroids, Alocasia will not benefit from having a moss pole to grow up to. They are self-supporting plants that grow upright.
To mix yourself, take a scoop or cup and use it to measure out 1 part. Add the above ingredients to the parts and mix thoroughly.

You can store SYBASoil for about 2 years. Make sure to store it cool, dark and closed off. The effectiveness of the nutrients can degrade over the years. Simply add some fresh worm castings to give the soil new life.

- You see roots growing out of the bottom of the pot
- The soil dries very quickly between watering
- The plant is top-heavy and wants to fall over
- Roots are pushing the plant up and out of the container
- Every 1 to 2 years

Der größte Teil meiner Araceae-Kollektion sind Alocasien (die ich inzwischen auch zu hybridisieren versuche). Das Bild zeigt einige der kleineren Exemplare, die inzwischen alle in Sybotanica Alocasia-Erde wachsen - und die Blüten bilden, die es zum Bestäuben braucht (links z.B. eine aktuell blühende Alocasia scalprum ... die Alocasia cuprea dahinter blüht auch demnächst).

Les produits Sybotanica sont très bien et très agréables à utiliser (terreau aéré etc....). Je trouve que le terreau spécial Alocasia met du temps à sécher.... et le terreau spécial Ficus également... Ce qui entraine l'apparition de petits moucherons de terreaux. Mis à part cela, le reste est très bien.....

Elles peuvent également ressentir un certain stress. La croissance peut donc être un peu retardée. Il faut donc encore un peu de patience. Le terreau reste très longtemps humide, j’ai l’habitude au aroide ou je sais très bien quand arroser mais avec le alocasia j’ai beaucoup de mal. Il est d’ailleurs très compact

Pour savoir s'il faut arroser à nouveau, le mieux est d'enfoncer profondément ton doigt dans la terre, afin de sentir si elle est humide à l'endroit où poussent les racines. Femke de Sybotanica
Très fan de ce produit, je vois déjà une amélioration sur la santé de ma plante. J’ai hâte de voir la suite de son évolution. Le packaging du terreau est super pratique !
J'ai réveillé un eddo et le terreau semble avoir beaucoup aidé, je suis obligée d'en reprendre car mon colocasia a triplé de taille en seulement 1 mois et demi et impose un rempotage...

De verzending was snel, bestellen heel gemakkelijk. Mijn planten houden van de grond. De grond verpakt in de ritssluitingszak die het gemakkelijk maakt om daarna te gebruiken.
Met het speciale zand en voeding doet mijn olifantsoortje het heel goed
Prettige aarde! Omdat ik niet goed had gelezen (oeps) kreeg ik 3 zakken van 5. Ik dacht dus dat het 1 klein zakje zou zijn, voor mijn kleine alocasia varieta plantje! Omdat ik er dus 3 kreeg, want ik bestelde niet voor 5 maar voor 15 L, moest ik “helaas” meer planten kopen die geschikt waren voor dat type aarde. Wat dit plantenmeisje helemaal niet erg vond, uiteraard! Ik ben dol op dit type aarde; mijn alocasia’s gaan er super op!

Tolle Verpackung kann man super wieder verschließen. Die Erde hat auch super Qualität bin sehr zufrieden damit:)

Fijne aarde. Planten wortelen als een malle. Alocasia knollen komen op met stammetjes van 15 cm lang en een eerste blad van 7.5 cm lang!
al mijn planten staan er goed bij. ze hebben de juiste grond gehad en ik ben er heel tevreden over de grond is goed luchtig en ik hoef heel weinig water te geven ik ben half verlamd dus de kleine zakken komen mij goed van pas ze zijn goed te hanteren met maar 1 hand ook sluiten ze prima ben erg tevreden over de grond en de verpakkingen geen vliegjes meer in de grond ik vind het een geweldig bedrijf en raad het iedereen aan
Mijn Alocasia begon de geest te geven. Maar na hem in de Alocasia mix te hebben gezet, begint hij gelukkig weer nieuw bladeren te maken!

Such a nice and easy life now I actually can't live without these soil mixes.🥰 I just take a pot, bag of soil mix and repotting is done. I’ve noticed way faster growth. Super! I grow many alocasias in alocasia mix since this’d turned out to be better for them. Somehow it’s way harder to me to overwater them now, when sadly I still do that in hydroponics. I mean, the mix keeps the humidity surprisingly very optional for the plant, so I use it for syngoniums too. The universal mix it’s just my must have - that’s all. Sometimes I make it more crunchy with a grit. I also use a semi-hydro mix only from Sybotanica. But I don’t mix it, like some people, with universal mix, since it really keeps the water then. For my plants in my conditions that’s too much. And well, the Anthurium mix - I love it. Crunchy, light, lovely mix. I even prefer this one more than the aroid one for my philodendrons. Because this one contains a lot of bark and I see my philodendrons like it more. I tried also calathea mix and well… again super! So just don’t think and buy some mixes 😍 you will love this solution as much as I do 🫶🏻 nice and easy 👌🏻 The package is very well-made, so you can easy open and close it 😊
Super Produkt Meine Umpflanzung der Alocasia hat gut geklappt. Hatte sie zuerst in einem Substrat mit etwas mehr Wasser. Eure Erde hat sie gut angenommen.

Alocasia Zeer tevreden over de potgronden! Eerst gezaaid in sphagnum mos . Na een paar weken waren de zaadjes gekiemd . Als het eerste blaadje tevoorschijn kwam , overgeplant in Alocasia mix . De plantjes doen het ongelofelijk. Groeien snel .( reuze Alocasia/ Alocasia robusta )
Tolle Erde für Alocasia Habe erst letztens umgetopft....finde, die Erde hat eine gute Struktur....leider habe ich mit Alocasien immer nicht soviel Glück, die neigen bei mir zum eingehen, Wachstumstillstand, braune Blätter...was nichts mit der Erde zu tun hat....vielleicht haben die Profis noch paar Tipps für mich!
